Chef Chatz

Chatz’s devotion to exploring various cuisines and blending fresh and oftentimes new seasonings has led this innovative chef to take on the seasoning market.  He continues to brush up on all things culinary to hone his craft.  Chef Chatz brings a unique blend of flavors and enthusiasm to the kitchen.   Keeping his creations simple, using fresh herbal ingredients and using his own expressive style.

His philosophy has always been in keeping the food simple and straightforward, emphasizing the fresh, superior ingredients and true flavors of the product. He gained notoriety and displayed his talent in Houston's growing culinary scene.  Chef Chatz says it all by explaining the chef's favorite, "The last dish I cooked is probably my favorite"!

Chef Chatz smoked meats and catering in Little Rock was featured on Fox16 News and Arkansas Now as one of the community’s small business entrepreneurs.  His culinary delights have been featured at events such as the Little Rock World Fest and the Midsouth Summit Black Expo.

A native of Little Rock, Arkansas, Chef Chatz shares his experiences and enthusiasm about his chosen profession. He is bold, creative, and always experimenting with different flavors and ingredients to create his masterpieces. He recalls when he was young, how he took special interest in the smell and taste of food, while observing his grandmother Carrie's cooking.

Chatz fell into cooking at the age of 17 when he would insist that his mother let him cook his own food.  After serving in the Gulf War and attending various colleges, pursuing various degree professions, Chatz discovered that his interest was not medicine, biology, or mechanical engineering.   He announced to his family that he was interested in a culinary arts profession.

He enrolled in a culinary arts program at the Art Institute of Houston.   He found his niche!  “Cooking is my passion,” said Chef Chatz some years ago, after graduating from the Art Institute of Houston. While at the institute he earned recognition for his culinary creations.

From 2000 to 2004, during his tenure in Houston, Chatz experimented with his culinary passion at various fine dining restaurants such as, Brennan’s of Houston, Creole Shack, Whole Foods, and the Lancaster Hotel, a 4-Star restaurant in Houston and a registered small luxury hotel of the world, has built his confidence not only as a chef, but engendered respect from his peers for his creative cuisine.

From the Press

1

Thomas Gangle

"You will NEVER eat another fast food burger again after tasting Chatz' Burger & Fries combo. It is thick & juicy and the fries are seasoned to perfection. He has all the toppings you want & custom sauces to adorn this filling meal. Ask for the Sunshine Tea as your drink."

Daniel R.--North Little Rock, AR

"Chatz knows meat! The ribs are great. They come dry, but you can pick your own sauce. They really need no sauce. The beans were amazing and had a different taste than any other BBQ beans I have had before! Check this place out next time you want some BBQ."

KnightsFB--Flower Mound, Texas

"Stopped in on our way to a concert in Little Rock. My wife and I both ordered the turkey burger. They were sold out of fries so I got the potato salad and my wife got the bbq beans. Both great choices. Neat little off the beaten path place. Give it a try. Gloria is super sweet and helpful."
